Have you ever seen “over healthy” (over weight / fat) woman looks slimmer and still attractive? Yup the key point is in their dress code. They should be able to express their individual tastes in fashionable ways other than “red” or “blue.” Women want to look good. They want fashion that flatters their figure and is stylish at the same time. Plus size women also want clothing items that are slimming. Here is where the confusion sets in.
Take, for example, the fashion staple of denim jeans. Every person should be able to find jeans that fit them and flatter their figure. However, plus size women should understand that they cannot wear the same type of jeans as skinny women. Low-rise jeans are not plus size friendly.
Although the choice is limited for big women wanting to cover folds of fat and having to opt for tent-like styles that drape rather than shape, but they could work it out to cover it, here’s some tips:
“Looking chic and stylish” is about knowing what not to wear, as it is about what suits you best.
* Choose flattering, fashionable cuts and colors to look fashionable.
* Avoid three-quarter length trousers because they make legs look shorter. Trousers should meet with the heel of the shoe for a longer look.
* Don’t wear pants or slacks with turn-ups or wide legs, swap for narrow, straight legs or boot-cut trousers.
* Skirts/trousers with high waistbands make legs look longer.

Be careful with belts if you’re short and stout and have a podgy belly. Good advice on the matter of belts usually falls on deaf ears, so if you tend on wearing a belt then wear it with a high waist garment. The belt needs to be high up over a dress or long length blouse, it fools the eye so the legs can’t be seen where they start from and your waist looks higher. Use the belt to define the narrow part around your ribcage under your breasts. Keep the rest of the outfit simple. Belt should be wide so it looks in proportion and doesn’t cut in. A firm belt with slight flexibility is ideal to allow for movement, and yet not enough slack to allow garments rolling up. Dark colored belts worn with light fabric is best.
* Create the illusion of height by wearing a top and bottom of the same color. This also applies to jackets. Wear them long – un-buttoned/zipped.
* Don’t wear chunky, ribbed tops which widen rather than lengthen.
* Wear high heels.
* Don’t be tempted to hide your waist under shapeless smock/tent styled dresses. A-line skirts are great for slimming down a wide waistline.
* Wear tops that are fitted under the boobs to give definition.
One of the most common question is should a fat person wear a bikini on holiday? Of course if they want too, however judging by survey it is not seen a likeable trend by others. But does it matter what other people think. If you want to wear a bikini but think you will look silly then comprise. Wear a top or a cute beach skirt, or sarong for walking around. Avoid donning a flowing kaftan it will draw attention. Don’t wear a striped bikini no matter how stylish and trendy the design. Your choice style of bikini should draw attention to your boobs if your bum looks fat and weighty. Consider buying a tankini, like a bikini but a vest top style that covers a flabby stomach.
If you think something makes you look fat, it most probably does. Thoughts as such is a sign to say you’re not comfortable with the clothing piece so change it because you’ll be constantly worrying over how you look when wearing it. Just because stuff may not “fit” the way the designer intended, does not mean fat women can’t wear them. Outfits tastefully complimented with accessories will hide the bad points that cause you misery. Just because it isn’t the “right” style doesn’t mean it’s wrong, it may well be the way you present yourself when the trendy outfit is on.
Fat people’s fashion is all about clothing a body shape that is larger than the skinny woman’s which is deemed normal, but is it. And remember that plus size women have made great progress in the fashion industry. There are now more choices than ever when it comes to plus size clothing. Care should be exercised, however, to not let this newfound freedom go to their heads. Some fashions are just not meant to be worn by a plus size woman.
